Funding Priorities

A minimum of 25 percent of the net income from each domestic Affiliate Race supports the national Komen for the Cure Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific conferences around the world.

Up to 75 percent of the net income from each domestic Affiliate Race stays in the local community to fund breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment projects.


2009-2011 Komen Mid-Michigan Mission Priorities

  1. Increase access to age-appropriate and risk-appropriate breast health services, with an emphasis on maintaining the continuum of care, for groups experiencing disparities in screening and care.
  2. Reduce barriers to mammography screening for the purpose of increasing screening rates in all service area counties.
  3. Increase access to services that meet the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of breast cancer patients and their families after diagnosis and/or treatment, with emphasis on medically underserved individuals.
