Major step in personalized treatment — Thanks to a 2007 research grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, scientists identified a set of 50 genes that oncologists can potentially use to tailor individualized treatments for all breast cancer patients.

How to Apply for Funding

Komen Mid-Michigan is pleased to announce its 2010-2011 grant cycle. Our new Request for Applications is now available. Workshops for potential grantees are scheduled in March in East Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Jackson. Please read our 2009 Community Profile for information on our community's need and funding priorities.

Important dates:

-Grantwriting workshops: Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend one of the following workshops. The workshops are an opportunity to learn about changes in our funding priorities, RFA, and budget requirements. Attendees will be able to maximize their opportunity to design a project that has a strong chance to be funded. To RSVP, please email info@komenmidmichigan.org or call (517) 886-4901.

  • March 12, 2010 – East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbott Rd., 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • March 24, 2010 – Malletts Creek Branch Library, 3090 E Eisenhower Pkwy., Ann Arbor, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • March 29, 2010 - Carnegie Branch of Jackson District Library (auditorium)  244 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

-Deadline for pre-screening** - May 14, 2010

-Application Deadline - June 14, 2010

-Award Notification - September 1, 2010

-Award Period: October 1, 2010 - September 30, 2011

Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply for a Komen Mid-Michigan Community Grant, your organization must be:

  • A federally tax-exempt entity — nonprofit organization, government agency, educational institution or Indian tribe.
  • Located in Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Livingston, Shiawassee, or Washtenaw counties.
