Race Information

The Komen Race for the Cure is a unique event, designed and implemented to promote positive awareness, education and early detection of breast cancer.  It has proved to be an enormously effective way to reach many women and men with the message that breast cancer is not necessarily fatal if mammography and breast self-awareness become routine. As well as being a road race for runners, the Komen Race for the Cure is an emotionally charged event that attracts many first timers and recreational runners. The Komen Race for the Cure is an opportunity for thousands of women, men and their families, running or walking, to spread the breast cancer message within their communities.

Registered participants will receive the official Komen Race for the Cure t-shirt. Size is not guaranteed.

For the safety of all participants, rollerblades, bicycles and pets are discouraged from participating in this event.

Babyjoggers and strollers will be allowed, but are asked to start at the rear of the event.

Also, we ask all of our participants to be aware of their surroundings during the day. If you see something that seems out of the ordinary or that is concerning to you, please say something. Enjoy the beautiful weather and memorable day with your family and friends!

This event will occur rain or shine.  We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances.  In that event, there will be no refunds, rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Komen Mid-Michigan Race for the Cure.

Volunteer Information

Volunteers are the heart of our Race for the Cure: it takes nearly 300 volunteers to ensure that the Race runs smoothly! There are many different ways to get involved on Race day and we hope that you will join us on Sunday, April 27th at the State Capitol. To view a list of all Race volunteer opportunities and find one that works best for you, click here

If you would like to participate in the Race and still volunteer, there are many volunteer opportunities in the days leading up to the Race and on the morning of the Race that will allow you to help out and then join your family and friends as we walk/run towards a world without breast cancer!

Also, we always welcome new members to our Race planning committee which gives you the opportunity to become involved behind the scenes. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 5th at 6PM at the Komen Mid-Michigan Office. For more information, please contact Ashley Pearson at
