Who are you running for? — Join in the fight against breast cancer by running a full or half marathon through Marathon for the Cure™
Rally for the Cure — Golf, tennis, dinner events and so much more...
A brand to trust — We are honored that Susan G. Komen for the Cure® ranked number one in a recent Harris Interactive poll as the most valued non-profit brand and the charity people are most likely to donate money to. Additionally, Komen for the Cure ranked second on the 2010 list of the nation’s most trusted charities. Thank you to all who help us daily in the fight to end breast cancer!
Imagine the IMPACT! Create a team of ten or more people to Race for the Cure!
Teams are an integral part of the Mid-Michigan Race for the Cure®. Racing as part of a team is a wonderful way to join together to encourage and support someone you know who is a breast cancer survivor, remember a loved one who lost her battle, or simply support the Komen effort in the fight against breast cancer. Participation as a team also helps to promote your organization’s community involvement, instills organizational pride in your team members, and allows your team the opportunity to earn recognition by participating in the team competition. Build a team of ten or more people and unite with family, friends, and co-workers in the fight against breast cancer. Register today as a team captain or join an existing team. Download your Team Captain Kit for ideas and inspiration.
Note: Online registration and donations facilitate our process and improve the accuracy of your team total!
Forming a Team
Forming a team is a fun and easy way to bring together friends, family members, fellow students, neighbors and co-workers. It’s a terrific way to "team build" in any organization. Runners and walkers can combine to form a team. You only need a minimum of 10 members on your team to be eligible for team awards. However, as the saying goes, "the more, the merrier"!
First, Select a Team Captain and Team Name
Each team has a Team Captain who is the primary contact, encourages team participation and fundraising, and assists with the registration of team members. The Team Captain must first register the team name online under "Form a Team" and then communicate that name to others. Once this step is completed, all team members can start registering online by clicking "Join a Team". It will be easy for the Team Captain to communicate with the team using the website. Go to your Participant Center to create your communications and email blasts.
Next, Start Recruiting Team Members
Building a committed group of team members who are just as invested as you are is an essential part of creating a successful and effective fundraising team. The individuals you recruit will come to trust in your passion and leadership and will ultimately participate and raise money because they believe in you and become committed to the cause, just as you are.
"Talk, Talk, Talk"
Tell everyone you know about what you are doing and why you are doing it. Find a way for everyone to participate, either by registering for the Race, soliciting donations, or volunteering. Send an email to everyone on your email list and ask for their support. Use your Team Captain page to spread information about the event and how others can join you.
