Pre-Race Activities

Downtown Lansing Inc. is turning the Capitol City pink again this year!  There are several ways to get involved, be sure to visit www.lansinginthepink.org for more information!  

 Downtown Decorating Day – Help us to turn downtown pink by volunteering to hang ribbons! Komen Mid-Michigan will be on the plaza of City Hall distributing ribbons as well as offering onsite registration for the 2012 Komen Mid-Michigan Race for the Cure. 

Lansing “In the Pink” week– Stay tuned for dates!  In the Pink special each day at participating downtown Lansing businesses.  By making a donation to the Komen Mid-Michigan Race for the Cure you will receive the special of the day!  Visit www.lansinginthepink.org to see a list of all the participating businesses and daily specials. 

Storefront Decorating Contest – Downtown businesses are competing to see who can be the most pink!  Be sure to check out all of the storefronts and then visit www.lansinginthepink.org to vote for your favorite! 

Packet Pickup:

Participants may register and pick up Race day packets at Playmakers (2299 W. Grand River, Okemos) during the following times:

 

Thursday, April 26th - Noon to 8 p.m.

Friday, April 27th - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday, April 28th - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

You may also pick up your t-shirt and bib number on Race Day between 11:00 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. at the Registration Tent.

You can register on Race day starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Registration Tent on the State Capitol grounds.

  

Race Day Details

Date: Sunday, April 29, 2012

Time: Race time is 2:00 p.m., with activities starting at 11:00 a.m.

Place: State Capitol, downtown Lansing

Course: The 5k Run/Walk is a downtown loop beginning and ending on Capitol Ave. in front of the State Capitol. USATF certified and sanctioned (pending). The 1-Mile Walk begins five minutes after the 5K and also starts and ends in front of the State Capitol. 

Participants: Everyone is welcome: women, men, and children of all ages. Individuals of all athletic abilities and challenges are encouraged to participate. To help ensure a safe event, we will not allow in-line skates, bicycles, or pets. Babyjoggers and strollers will be allowed, but are asked to start at the rear of the event.

Registration: Online registration closes Tuesday, April 24, at 11:00 p.m. In-Person Registration is available anytime through 5:00 p.m on Saturday, April 28th at Playmakers, 2299 W. Grand River Ave., Okemos, (517) 349-3803. Late Registration is also available on Race day from 11:00 a.m. 1:45 p.m.

Race T-Shirts: Registered Participants will receive the official Komen Race for the Cure® T-shirt (size not guaranteed).

Rain or Shine. This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds; rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Komen Mid-Michigan Race for the Cure®.

Volunteers: New and returning volunteers are encouraged to get involved. Race volunteers will receive a t-shirt in appreciation of their efforts. Please click here to sign up to volunteer.
